Movie tickets for this went on sale at 12:01am EST last night (this morning) online at Fandango and Movietickets.com. Oh my gawd.

Last night when I was zoning out of my life and zoning into others’ lives (haven’t you heard of remote viewing? They’re using it in Russia!) … I saw quite a few people waiting anxiously to purchase tickets for this showing. Some people were holding Hannah Hooplahs - sleepovers where little 12-year- old girls are running around in their skivvies and counting down til 1 past midnight. Oh the excitement! I can’t wait to see how the theaters get overrun with them pre-teeny-boppers. Can a young adult handle a bunch of much-younger girls running all over, screaming? Do you think there will be people camping out for the “best seats”? I wonder…

I WILL be stopping drive-by watchings on the first of February. I’ll make sure to bring a video camera for all the kiddie excitement.

So apparently there is quite a bit of controversy over this movie. Me? I think it’s all a bunch of fun.

From what I seen, it’s mostly gangs of Christians boycotting it because it has a bit of anti-their-god. Well… I haven’t seen the movie yet (gotta wait til tomorrow night – sneaky peaky!) so I can’t say for myself what there is or is NOT in the film. In fact… I’ve really no idea other than it’s supposed to be really good (gotta love those AWESOME trilogies!)  and something about each person having an animal counterpart. I don’t know how to describe it… and I’m not clear on it myself. We’ll see.

However… what’s the big freaking deal? Lord of the Rings used magic, as well as THOUSANDS of other movies… something else the Harry Potter-ers are no stranger too, as well.

 But the whole main reason that I think all of this is not only a bit frivilous (the boycott I mean) and ridiculously entertaining, is because of this:

The rating of this movie is PG-13 “for sequences of fantasy violence “. Did you see that? Maybe I should go over it again. “Sequences of fantasy violence”. Hmm… makes me wonder. If there is fantasy VIOLENCE, most likely there is other FANTASY stuff. Could you say that this is possibly… fanstasy fiction? We all remember what the meaning of FICTION is… don’t we? Well, I’ll let you know how I hang it. The “f” in fiction reminds me of the “f” in fake. So… in case you haven’t figured it out… fiction is not real. As opposed to non-fiction which is biographies and all that good stuff. Do you follow? (I’m loving all these “f” words!)

I dug up quite a funny comment from a would-be-movie-goer. And I quote:

“You should boycott The Golden Compass. It is ful of lies that are bad for children. I do not want my daughter to get scared because f your movie. Soncerely, Bob Smith”

Well now, Bob. First of all… get your spelling correct. No one likes a die-hard bible-thumper, much less one that did not graduate middle school. Second of all… it is NOT full of lies, it is called (ya know, that thing we were talking about before) – FICTION! Hell, it’s in the genre of fanstasy! That’s gotta tell you something! I doubt you even have a daughter, and if you did… I really really pity her. She’s probably already growing moss in her hair because of how wet it is under that rock where she must reside.Oh, and also… just because you don’t like it doesn’t mean I won’t.So please, people… if we wanted to follow your self-righteous ways, we would. Stop trying to stuff your ideas, beliefs and morals down others’ throats. Just because this movie is portraying a different fantasy other than your own doesn’t mean that OTHER people shouldn’t be able to enjoy it.

So I’ve attempting to form a truce with a former partner of mine. When we had first gotten together, I noticed that she had a little collection of rubber duckies. In the throes of love, I sacrificed a beloved ducky that I had had since my first bathing days in the tub. Now, 2 1/2 years later while the relationship has been flushed away I had run across my ol’ splashin sidekick and figured I could do a little duckie-napping. After all, she wouldn’t notice until a couple years later when she finally got the rest of her duckie gang out of the box they were residing in. Well, long story short, she visited me later and spied him sitting proudly atop of a shelf in my bathroom. Arg! She protested and took him back, with me claiming that I wanted to see how long it took for her to notice – that I knew she would see him and steal him back. Well… this WAS true. Partially. The phrase Indian-Giver popped into my head. I don’t know if this is a COMMON phrase (all over the US? Probably not in the UK?) but it’s basically someone who gives something up and then takes it back. (Durr… like you couldn’t figure this out from that I had just written!)

My ex has faith with the Christian religion, and I wanted to make a little joke that popped in my head, but didn’t – for fear of too much offense being taken. I wanted to say something along the lines of “God – the Ultimate Indian Giver: He giveth and he taketh away”. While I was attempting to find the exact verse(s) (for your entertainment, of COURSE) I ran across a blog far more interesting than looking up the origin.

This is the post here . Now she’s got some interesting points. She’s saying here that it does NOT say that in the bible. She mentions a few more things, but she’s basically saying that God is not bad and would not put someone through evil crap like that.

I quote “I heard it when my son, Jacob, was stillborn. ‘Well, the Lord gives and the Lord takes away. He just needed Jacob in heaven.’ WHAT? God NEEDS little babies in heaven?? He TAKES them from us because he NEEDS them??? And this is a good God??? (all the time?) That is just plain mistaken theology. The Lord does not take our babies away from us because he needs them. What would he need our babies for?? He NEEDS His people on earth, doing the great commission.”

Now, a little background on me. When it comes down to it… I am pretty much agnostic. I went to a private Christian school for all of elementary and middle school. We all had the religious ideas and whatnot stuffed into our already full heads. Now, I respect christianity, I believe it does have good points and reasons, however I just don’t find it to be MY cup of tea. In fact… I haven’t found one religion yet that seems to suit the way I feel. I’m not saying I DON’T think there may be someone out there messing with our little life forms, but I’m not gonna bet on it either way.

Anyway, back to original topic. This blog author also mentions that not only does he not take away, but he GIVES wonderful things to those “living according to the law (a perfect and blameless life)”. But then of course, along came Jesus and forgave us for all that fun trouble we can get into.

Now, I’ve got two seperate ideas I’d like to bring up. First off all, on the taking-away-lives deal… I (almost) firmly believe that there are generally no coincidences. I prefer to believe that things happen for a reason. My mother died when I was 16 and I have no resentment against it. At the time, my mom was having quite a hard time with life, which… while I was in her care, I was getting dragged down with it. Okay, that sounds a little harsh, but I’ve come to terms. Simply (not bitterly!) put… I would’ve probably been better cared for had my mom taken better care of herself. I don’t regret anything that went on – in fact… I’ve learned many a things from my mom and what she had gone through. Now maybe you could argue that she had already spent her time on earth and that she had done all that she was meant to do here. But what about a baby. If there IS a higher power out there, maybe He had not taken the baby away because He needed the baby in heaven… maybe it was more of a learning experience for the parent(s) or whoever else’s life the little one had touched. Maybe someone needed to have some sort of experience and that’s the reason the baby had made it only this far. So in this case, God would not actually be EVIL, but “working in mysterious ways”. (Which I think is a funny term… so very broad… but that’s a WHOLE ‘nother topic there!)

NOW… two my second idea! If Jesus came to forgive us for sins and whatnot… and we’re supposed to live a beautiful life… (note this quote: “Not only that, but he has taken away sickness, sorrow and grief! Isaiah 53:4-5 Surely he took up our infirmities and carried our sorrows,…and by his scourging we are healed.”)

Now, a question! If you believe in God and do all that necessary stuff… why do people get sick and die? Are you saying the Devil took hold of them because they were unpure? But I thought Jesus took care of that! I had heard a few years back that in a part of Africa, men with AIDS believed if they had sex with a virgin, it would cure the AIDS. (See what happens where there’s no Sex Ed?!) Now, say a (probably very young) girl comes along and this guy rapes her… she contracts HIV and then along comes AIDS. Wow. What happened there? Okay, you could argue that she “doesn’t know Jesus”. What about if she was already schooled on all of that and was a deeply devout Christian? What’s your answer now?

And then… she also states “He gives me freedom from sin! Romans 8:1-2 ‘Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit of life set me free from the law of sin and death”. Wait… hold on… WHAT?! Jesus set us free from death? Then how come no matter how devoted you may be… everyone dies? Are you meaning to tell me that when we die… it’s actually the Devil doing it? So the Devil wins over each and every time? Boy, I see why people are scared to die now! Okay, but seriously… explain that one to me.

This is just me throwing out my ideas, and the reasons I’m not exactly jumping on the religion bandwagon. But… I do respect the different ideas and don’t try to stuff my “belief’s” down other people’s throats…

So I figured… in my next life… if I have a choice… I’m going to claim the house cat throne.

Chances are you have seen a cat’s life in action. My kitties have the freaking life! Not only do they not have to work, but they get free room and board too! They wake up in the early hours of the morning, jump and skid around the house for a good two hours and pass out around 8 am. The sleeping continues for a good… I don’t know… till dinner time?

Well no. That’s a lie. They probably hunt or piss or do gawd-knows-what until they come home for dinner time. Yeah, come home. Not only do they not have responsibilities, but they can come and go as they please!

Can you imagine? Come check in in the morning, get some pets and some food and out you go. The world is yours to adventure. In fact, you don’t even have to be home for dinner! Quite possibly your humans may wander where you are, but if you leave them for a night you’ll most likely get more pets and food and snuggles the next morning. This is quite easy because you’re cheating on your humans with the humans down the street! When these other humans see you, they give you TUNA! Not that canned crap from the local pet store. And DRY food? Yech!

So if you want tuna two meals in a row, stay out a night. You’ll get it in the morning too because your humans may think 1 of 2 things – either you were out or sleeping or something happened last night and therefore you didn’t eat OR you ARE cheating on them with the neighbors. But that’s not YOUR fault that the neighbors give better food. So your humans try to keep up competiton and give you yummier food, and more snuggles.

What a life!

 And go figure, if you cruise the dangerous part of the neighborhood or step out in front of a car… you get 8 more chances!

Alright now, folks. I’m opening myself up here.

I do occassionally drink, but I’ve never gone so far as to get drunk. I don’t even know if I’ve been tipsy. I don’t conciously try to stay semi-sober or to get drunk, so either way it’s no big deal. Personally, I don’t care much to get drunk. I’ve seen how it can affect people, from just plain stupid or silly to downright dumb and disasterous.

Well, last night I went out to a friend’s “birthday” party. She had her family and husband and a few friends there, it was pretty chill. There, however, was no music. Booooorriinng. I mean, you could at LEAST have a little background beat… just to fill in the quiet moments. Said party started at 7, which… I’m sure my friend/host had started drinking before, or quite possibly the second there was a knock on the door.

She’s the type of gal that doesn’t know how to have fun when sober. Oh well, her problem. Later on, after an unsuccessful hot tub gathering (the HOT was left out – it was merely a bubbling ice bath) we all went back upstairs and continued to talk and hang out.

I’m really not much of a talker – especially in social settings where I’m not close with everyone. I knew almost everyone there, I mean… I’d known the family for… about 10 years now, but I’m not CLOSE with anyone except the birthday girl and her sister. Sister was not going to be able to come until 11 or so. Oh well.

So back to the original idea of this post. Last night, I think almost everyone was atleast semi-drunk (with the exception of me, I’d only had a handful of jello shots)  and was actually pretty calm. Of course, my friend, the drunk brithday girl, was a bit loud… but the alcohol only pronounces that, it’s something we all expect from her.

So around 11 her sister comes along with sister’s long-time man and then I finally start to really ease-up. Her sister and I are sitting there talking, mingling, whatever and one of the guys came up. Now, I know I happen to be the only girl here NOT with a man, but gimme a break! He had been sipping on beer the whole night, and he was very much noticeably inhibited brain-wise. So he stands there next to me and says “Did you wanna have sex?” I looked weird at him and said “Scuze me?” “I said, do you wanna have sex?” to which I unsuccessfully stifled a laugh and said “No… sorry…” to which he repsonded “That’s weird. I really wanna have sex.” Uhh… wow. Good for you buddy. Am I supposed to be flattered or offended? I just kinda… walked away after that. When I was leaving I hugged birthday gal and sister and shook his hand. He was lookin for a hug. Sorry buddy, no touchy-feely for you tonight. Better luck next time?

Oh Lord, why me?

Not that anyone reads this, but there has been a nice crap-ton of drama going on (well, laziness as well!) and I just haven’t been up to posting recently.

 I’m not GENERALLY a follower of the  astrological kind, but it is a big interesting. I met a lady last night who does that sort of thing and she said Aries are well known for starting and NOT finishing/continuing them. Yeah. That’s me! My self-control is just… not very controlling when it comes to dragging on projects. And, I’m notorious for procrastination too. Which does not help, to say the least. Yeah, well… I try. (Or do I?!)

Did anybody catch that?

“Unique people. Like you.” I thought unique was… unique? Do the dictionary companies need to be notified? Mommy always told you that you were special. She just didn’t tell you that everyone else was special too!

Tell me this is not one of the coolest things you’ve ever seen!!!

I don’t know HOW popular this video has become, but I find this to be one of the more interesting things in nature. The first time I saw this video of the Frill Shark, I almost died. I think I would have had a heart attack had it swam by me like that. It kinda looks like something from a nightmare, but oh-so-cool at the same time. And to believe about 1% of the ocean has really been explored. Makes me wanna become a (deep sea) Marine Biologist. No really, it’s a possibility!

I was watching Planet Earth last night on the Discovery Channel (I missed them the first time around) and they show the craziest stuff on the Deep Sea “episode”.

So a couple of friends and I went over to Wendy’s today to grab somethin to munch on. I was just coming along for the ride (and happened to get a frosty out of it from my friend) so I was just bumming around the dead fast food joint while they ordered. The… what do you call ‘em, order taker/cashier/front guy was real nice. No, not nice, he was… overly well-mannered. It was like he had his boss hanging over his shoulder recording him because he got in real bad trouble and was going to be fired or something.

I mean… I was thinking the guy lost a bet or something and had to be overtly scare-the-customers-away nice. When asked if we could get some ranch, he looked and said “I’m so sorry ma’am, we don’t have any ranch at the moment.” And… a couple of other odd things. I wasn’t paying too much attention, but could still notice the weirdness. At the end of one of my friends ordering, she said “thanks” after he gave her her change back. To which he responded “It was my pleasure”.

 So… is it more odd that he was just… overtly nice or is it really supposed to be like that and we’re just conditioned to be treated like crapola when we go to a fast food place?
